The Jarchow Conservation Award
The Tucson Herpetological Society (THS) established the Jarchow Conservation Award (JCA) in July 1992 to honor individuals or organizations for their service to the conservation of the amphibians and reptiles of the deserts of North America.
The award is named for James L. Jarchow, DVM, of Tucson for his dedication and contributions to the conservation of amphibians and reptiles for more than 20 years. The first JCA was given to Dr. Jarchow on 15 September 1992.
Candidates are individuals and organizations that have received little recognition and whose conservation work would benefit from the Award. It consists of an engraved plaque, a written citation, Honorary Life Membership in the THS, and $500.
Nominations are solicited from the THS Board (of Directors) and are reviewed by a Committee that consists of a quorum of the previous awardees, including a Chairperson. Finally, the THS Board must approve the final selection of any candidate chosen by the committee.
The Jarchow Conservation Award is supported entirely by donations made to the society. Please consider supporting the fund by visiting our Donate page.
Nominations or requests for further information can be emailed (highly preferred), or mailed, to JCA Chair:
